Matty has lived-experience of mental health problems and is a survivor of suicide. With 17 years’ professional experience working in the field of mental health, Matty decided to compliment the knowledge he’d developed by studying for an MBA at Liverpool Business School, which equipped him with the skills needed to launch this inspirational social enterprise in 2019. Matty graduated with a Distinction overall and Distinction in his thesis: Socially Progressive Mental Health: An Exploration of how NHS Mental Health Services Can Integrate Asset-Based Approaches Within Mainstream Provision and an Exploration of the Factors Affecting it's Integration to Date. Matty is currently completing his Doctorate at Liverpool Business School.
More than a decade of Matty’s career has been spent working as a Registered Mental Health Nurse in a variety of senior leadership and strategic management positions. He has experience across a range of public and private sector services across the whole of England, including work in specialist settings.
Matty has worked with amazing people from some of the most socio-economically deprived areas in the country. Matty has worked with people who experience highly complex problems. He is a skilled strategic coach with advanced qualifications in mental health, the philosophy of mental health and practice development. Matty is also a Neuro-Linguistic Programming Master Practitioner.
As well as being an experienced leader of quality improvement projects, some of which have gained national praise, Matty has supported organisations with advice and consultancy to aid their practice. His consultancy work includes working as a Specialist Adviser to the Care Quality Commission, as well as Lead Reviewer with the Royal College of Psychiatrists Quality Network. Matty has supported the United Nations and MIND the Charity with their strategy/policy development. Matty has also worked as a Mental Health Lecturer in Universities.
Matty is a published author credited with several publications and he enjoys being involved in the design and implementation of corporate strategy.
Matty is a strong, forward thinking and transformational leader with commercial awareness, which aids the drive towards sustainable, community-based approaches to mental health.
