We recently had the pleasure of attending the annual Wirral Recovery Festival at Birkenhead Market!
It was an amazing day of art, music, performance, and celebration led by Wirral’s recovery community and it was beautiful to see all the different organisations that are doing vital work in this space.
There were a couple of new things going on for us as well.
Firstly, recovery might not be the first word you think of when you think about FPP.
We were there to chat about the new arm of our service Breaking the Odds, which has been commissioned by NHS England and has been designed to support anyone who is experiencing, or affected by, gambling related harms.
And although the service is new, this isn’t new territory for us.
FPP is essentially a high street mental health service. Anyone can walk through our door and access support. And when someone walks through our door needs support with something gambling related then we help them. All we’ve done here is scale up that support to create a formal pathway for this aspect of our service.
The second new thing was FPP making a rare appearance on the Wirral!
We have lots of people in our community from the Wirral but we must admit we don’t get across the water as often as we’d like.
This new piece of work with the NHS has allowed us to spread our wings a little and we are now offering dedicated gambling harms support at a Wirral venue on a weekly basis.
Huge thanks to anyone and everyone who stopped by to chat, grabbed a leaflet, swapped emails and interacted in any way, it was great to meet you all.
We’re looking forward to next year already!
