A day out at the Hill Dickinson Stadium

One of our incredible volunteers was recently gifted 2 tickets for an EFC home game!

Patrick has been a member of our community for a while now; in fact, he’s practically part of the furniture! He’s also one of our longest serving volunteers.

He comes to loads of sessions across the timetable and he’s always the first to put his hand up to help us out. He does loads of gardening, runs errands, gets stuck in, sets up, puts away and gets involved with anything that needs doing. He’s a huge help to our team and we are always grateful for his efforts.

He also does loads for his community. He does garden and yard work all over the city, he dog sits, builds flat packs, is always up for a chat and helps people out when they need a bit of help.

His super power though is public transport! If you want to know how to get to or from anywhere in Liverpool, then Patrick is the man to ask. Short cuts, schedules, scenic routes, avoiding busy times, he knows it all like the back of his hand. He often accompanies people who gets anxious on the bus and helps them get to the shops or to appointments.

And he does all of this despite navigating his own life and experiencing his own challenges. To say this lad has come a long way since we first met him is an understatement. He’s an absolute star and we are all very proud of him!

Something else about Patrick is that he’s a massive Everton fan.  So when we were looking for a way to thank him, it made perfect sense to reach out to the club and let them know a little bit about Patrick, how far he’s come and just how much he does for us and for others.

Safe to say they were blown away by his efforts and to say thank you, they gifted him a couple of tickets to the recent home game against Ipswich Town.  Patrick got to visit the Hill Dickinson Stadium earlier in the day to get his photo taken on the pitch with a couple of EFC legends and then he met our Tom to watch the match.

They had a boss day out and luckily the result went Patrick’s way and he got so see a couple of goals – even if one of them was ruled off by VAR.

We can’t thank Patrick enough for all his hard work and we can’t thank EFC enough for looking after him!
