Breaking the Odds

Gambling Harms Support Across Liverpool City Region

Breaking The Odds is a new community-based gambling harms support service, delivered by First Person Project CIC and funded through the NHS England Gambling Harms Programme.

We know that gambling harms often remain hidden and that many people don’t recognise they need support until their finances, relationships or mental health have been significantly affected. Others never seek help because they don’t identify with the term gambling addiction.

Breaking the Odds has been developed to change that.

We believe lasting recovery happens when people feel safe, understood and supported.

Our approach is:

Person-centred

Every person’s story is different.

Trauma-informed

We understand that past experiences can influence present behaviour.

Community-based

Support is available in welcoming community settings rather than only clinical environments.

Recovery-focused

We work alongside you to build confidence, hope and a meaningful future.

Flexible

Support is shaped around your individual needs and goals.

Recovery is about more than stopping gambling.

Through this partnership, we offer:

Our multidisciplinary team combines experienced mental health clinicians, counsellors, coaches and support practitioners to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care within community settings.
