David has been a qualified Mental Health Nurse for 20 years, prior to which he was a Support Worker. David’s interest in mental health started when he worked for a charity organisation which provided housing for residents with learning difficulties and enduring mental health problems.
Since qualification, David has had many varied opportunities, working on the cutting edge of mental health practice and operating at a senior clinical/managerial positions in both the NHS and private sector.
David has fulfilled a key role in the development of mental health services regionally, including being a part of the team which developed innovative psychiatric liaison services within the A+E department of a busy acute hospital in the North West – the success of which resulted in vastly improved outcomes for service users and led to David presenting at the Psychiatric Congress in Munich, Germany.
David has worked in some of the most socio-economically challenged areas across the region, this includes working in inpatient, community and specialist settings. David has a wealth of experience working in Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Teams.
David demonstrates a commitment to the ongoing improvement of clinical quality, supporting various mental health services to complete mock Care Quality Commission inspections in order to ensure a consistently excellent service. David has completed training in CBT and Coaching and has enjoyed many opportunities to share his experience with others through teaching and training.
David has a keen interest in the links between physical and mental health. His experience and passion for sharing knowledge make him a valuable asset to First Person Project.
